How to Replace the Memory on a Dell Latitude E6400

•Phillips-head screwdriver
Step 1 Turn off the computer and disconnect the power cord.

Step 2 Strip the computer of any cables running to it from peripheral devices.

Step 3 Turn the computer over and extract the screw in the middle of the base cover.

Step 4 Slide the base cover toward the front of the computer and then lift it off to expose the memory modules, which are stacked on top of each other in the front of the computer.

Step 5 Remove a memory module by spreading the tabs that secure it to the port and it will pop up at an angle. Pull the module out of the port.

Step 6 Insert the new memory module into the vacated port at an angle and press it down gently until the tabs lock into it.

Step 7 Replace the base cover and turn the computer over.

Step 8 Connect the peripheral devices and the power cable to the computer to finish the replacement.
